Sourdough Hawaiian Rolls
Ingredients:
¼ cup warm milk
¼ cup melted butter
½ cup of sourdough starter
¼ cup brown sugar
1 egg
¾ cup pineapple juice
3 & ½ cups all purpose flour
2 tsp salt
Recipe
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sourdough starter, and sugar. Whisk in the butter, egg, and pineapple juice until smooth. Then mix in the flour and salt until a shaggy dough forms. Transfer to a clean surface and knead until smooth. Transfer back to the mixing bowl and cover with a towel. Place somewhere warm to rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Then, divide the dough out equally into 12 pieces. Flatten the pieces and then roll into balls. Place in a buttered 9 x 9 baking dish and place on top of the stove while your oven preheats to 350F for at least 30 minutes.
Then, brush with egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water, whisked together) and transfer to the oven to bake for 20-23 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Brush with more melted butter and enjoy fresh!
